Construction material prices fell slightly in September

The price of construction materials dropped by 0.1% in September but is up 16.3% from the same month last year.


Prices for nonresidential construction materials decreased by 0.1% from August to September but rose 15.9% from a year earlier. Six of the eleven subcategories had lower prices. Prices for softwood lumber are up 14.5% annually while falling 4.6% from August to September. Prices for iron and steel are down 5.4% for the month and 12.8% over the previous year. From August to September, natural gas increased by 3.1%; since February 2020, it has increased by 497.6%. With a monthly decline of 3.4%, crude oil has risen by 84.3% since February 2020. #construction #roofing
